Romney Still Top Contender for McCain VP Pick

McCain is expected to announce his vice presidential pick the day after Senator Obama accepts the Democratic nomination. It’s a greaty way to hinder and supress Obam’s bounce coming out of his convention. McCain supposedly still has Mitt Romney as a top candidate for his VP, now that the idea of Tom Ridge has received negative feedback due to Ridge’s pro-abortion stance. McCain’s announcement is expected to come on Friday morning, August 29th (his 72nd birthday).

It is possible and it makes political sense. Both John McCain and Mitt Romney have their strengths in different areas and this could be one reason why they fought so bitterly as presidential candidates. A Vice President should be able to fill in what is missing with the President, that way they can compliment each other. While McCain is the man for foreign policy and national security, Romney does quite well with domestic issues of economy and health care. Romney has an extensive and successful business background that surpasses any of the other presidential candidates. This is especially needed when the news media is spinning out of control about the so-called bad economy.

McCain can garner support from the Conservative base by choosing a running mate that people can share enthusiasm and passion. Besides, during the Republican primaries, the conservative talk show hosts supported Romney more so than McCain. What better way to re-unite the Republican party. Could Romney possibly end up being McCain’s VP pick? It would certainly help me to enthusiasticly vote Republican rather than to reluctantly vote Republican.

  1. I am a democrat, but I probably would vote for McCain if Mitt Romney was his running mate. I was disappointed he did make the nomination. My husband feels the same way.

  2. It would be awesome to have Romney as McCain’s VP. At least he is someone who know’s a lot about business and the economy and could help give McCain pointers on how to get out of this sluggish mess we are in.

  3. I certainly hope that Romney is who McCain will pick! Romney carries a lot of conservative supporters that McCain will not get unless Romney is on the ticket.
