President Monson Turns 81
Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is celebrating his 81st birthday today.
President Monson has devoted his life to serving others. When Church News editor Gerry Avant asked what the ideal birthday gift would be, he gave a true-to-form answer:
“Do something for someone else on that day to make his or her life better. Find someone who is having a hard time, or is ill, or lonely, and do something for them. That’s all I would ask.”
President Monson is truly an example of love and service to your fellow man. Reminds me of the scripture in Alma 48:17 “Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.” I personally belive that the same could be said of our beloved prophet, Thomas S. Monson.
