I had previously came across a website that was a free service that is allows you to generate a copy of your patriarchal blessing in scripture format (PDF). Then you could print it out and insert it into your scriptures. Although the site said that personal information will be carefully protected, it lacked SSL encyrption protection. I rarely share personal information over the Internet, and this is no exception. I even came across a site that charges money to reformat the blessing; now there’s some priestcraft! The idea of a patriarchal blessing in a format similar to the scriptures is stunning, nonetheless.

Putting your patriarchal blessing in scripture format is something that can be done very easily within minutes using Microsoft Word. It’s all a matter of formatting the text. You then have full control and privacy over your information. I have developed a simple Word document template that can be used. Just fill in information in brackets and type in the text of your blessing, numbering verses every complete sentence or thought. Then, print it out and include it with your scriptures. I also had mine reduced in size and laminated. Here is the template:

In the April 1986 General Conference, President Ezra Taft Benson, in the talk To the “Youth of the Noble Birthright,” stated the following concerning Patriarchal Blessings:

Further, I would encourage you brethren of the Aaronic Priesthood to receive a patriarchal blessing. Study it carefully and regard it as personal scripture to you; for that is what it is. A patriarchal blessing is the inspired and prophetic statement of your life’s mission together with blessings, cautions, and admonitions as the patriarch may be prompted to give. Young men, receive your patriarchal blessing under the influence of fasting and prayer, and then read it regularly that you may know God’s will for you.

Where do you send for a blessing? The article mentions that blessings can be printed to be carried in scriptures but no mention is made of where to go to get them.

You do not send for nor order a patriarchal blessing. It is a sacred blessing from the Lord performed by a Patriarch in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here is some more information about patriarchal blessings:
