Thirteen Stars and Thirteen Stripes. It was on JUNE 14, 1777, that the Second Continental Congress selected the Flag of the United States. In 1916, Woodrow Wilson signed the Proclamation making JUNE 14 “National Flag Day.”
On Flag Day, 1942, Franklin D. Roosevelt stated:
On JUNE 14, 1954, Dwight Eisenhower signed Joint Resolution (Public Law 396) adding the phrase “One Nation Under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Eisenhower stated:

All Americans know what the American flag looks like. Most of us pledged allegiance to it every day before school. It’s one of America’s greatest patriotic symbols. And it’s also the subject of our national anthem. It is so important that a whole day was set aside for it. Awesome! I love flying the American flag. It pisses off my illegal alien neighbors who fly the Mexican flag. I wish all states would implement what Arizona is doing so that we can get rid the jerks that do not support the United States of America.
