For those of you with an iPhone, you already know that there is an app for everything. Well, it just got better. There was a previous application that I used for the ward directory, now there is a better one that was just released. You can have the entire ward and stake directories at your fingertips. Updates on ward and stake events, week lesson schedules, and more.
The iPhone app is “MyWard (and Stake)” by Truestar Apps. Obviously you will need to have an account setup with LDS.org. This allows you access to your ward/stake information, which is only updated by the ward/stake clerks. So if the information that the app displays is out-of-date, it is not the application.
This app has several advantages over it’s competitor: it is lower priced, you can instantly add ward/stake calendar events to your calendar (via Google calendars), add members to your contacts without overwriting existing data, and automatic updates.
Use MyWard to look up anyone in your ward or stake and give them a call, send them an email, or map their address with just a single tap. Find out who the ward executive secretary, stake Patriarch, or Sunday school president is by consulting the convenient ward and stake leadership directories. Plan out your week with the familiar calendar feature, which shows what events and activities are coming up in your ward and stake. You can even add these events to your personal calendar on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
MyWard automatically downloads all of this information for your ward and stake from LDS.org whenever your iPhone or iPod Touch has a 3G, Edge or WiFi connection. There’s no need to have access to MLS. MyWard keeps this information up-to-date in the background so that you’ll always have the most recent updates available. Once downloaded, you’ll have access to this information anytime, anywhere, whether you’re online or not.
