Hollywood has been trying for the past several years to shut down edited movie companies, who provide a service of making edited movies to remove vulgar language, gory violence, and sexual content. Hollywood dislikes the fact that people don’t want to be indoctrinated with their filth and trash. Hollywood was successful when they counter-sued CleanFlicks, FamilyFlix, and CleanFilms in July 2006. However, there were many other editing companies that were not part of the lawsuit and continued their service.
Recently, Family Edited DVDs changed their business model. Hollywood’s plan has actually backfired. Family Edited DVDs is known for producing quality edited versions of movies. Now, they have fully revealed their movie editing secrets to everyone, with their CD-ROM, How to Make Edited Movies. Millions of people now have the knowledge and ability to make their own edited versions how they see fit.
Why is this important, and why is Hollywood so upset? Well, it’s because people don’t want the filth and the trash. People vote with their money, and at the box office it is clearly evident that R rated movies are not welcome. According to The Movie Times All Time Box Office Revenue, there is NOT a single R rated movie in the top 10, nor in the top 30 (with the exception of Passion of the Christ).
I bought their CD-ROM online at their sale price that they have going on this month. It is amazing! A complete step by step guide on exactly how to edit and what’s the best software to use. They have done a fantastic job providing this information.
While I steer clear of R rated movies, I have started to use their edited DVD secrets to edit my collection of PG-13 and PG rated movies, and it is working fabulously. Now I can be sure that children will not pre-maturely encounter vulgar language in children’s movies such as Shrek, Harry Potter, or Jumanji. What a great service Family Edited DVDs continues to provide.

It sounds like this book on editing movies will be a big hit. I recently ordered it, and it is exactly as you said, a simple step by step how to guide. I can’t wait to start editing my own movies.

I think it is great to have this information because this will provide a way for my family to enjoy movies without all the garbage. My kids get enough of that stuff at school. I would not want that to be in my home also. It only degrades my family but also tells others that what is being said is ok to say and I don’t want my kids to think that it is ok to see it, hear it or even be around it. Thanks for providing the information.

Why would I pay them to tell me what I already know. Here’s four words that will save you $30. Apple’s Final Cut Pro. You can use that to edit your own movies. The whole point of getting edited movies is not to expose yourself to that content. It funny how people are willing to pay for the opportunity to embrace the trash they wanted to avoid. I mean, how do you respond to your children if they ask you this question, “You watch “R” movies, why can’t I?” “I just edit them” doesn’t cut it!

RE: Movie Man …obviously you don’t already know. A vast majority (over 80%) of people use a Windows operating system. Apple’s Final Cut Pro ONLY works on Macintosh computer systems. So, people would have to spend a couple thousand dollars on a new computer they aren’t going to be familiar to use, and in addition shell out another $1300 for the Final Cut Pro software. The money I paid for the book was worth every penny, as it shows in explicit detail how to edit movies on your Windows-based computer with exceptional video and sound quality using mostly FREE software. Yes, there are a couple programs that cost some money, but it is under $400.

Hey Movie Man, the article did not endorse watching R-rated movies. The author stated that they used the editing techniques to edit PG and PG-13 rated movies. Besides, our Church leaders have discussed this in detail stating: “movie ratings do not always reflect offensive content.” Just because a movie is rated PG doesn’t mean it is a good movie, thus it will likely need to be edited. But if you think that people will only watch G rated movies the rest of their lives instead of editing PG rated movies, you are dead wrong!

Movie Man,
I think that you are right that people pay for trash and they watch it whether it is directly or indirectly. For example: There is always someone that is paying to watch the trash in the movie theater, a movie place such as blockbuster or even hollywood video and other places. However, it is most often, and probably the most obvious, and that is having it in your own home.
You honestly want me to believe that you don’t pay for having trash in your own home? What do you tell your kids when you are watching something that you don’t want them to watch? I just pay for the trash but I don’t watch it?
Please, the whole reason for having edited movies was to help protect our kids from being further exposed than what they already have been exposed to . It says in the article specifically that they steer away from the R-rated movies and just edit the PG-13 and PG movies.
You ask, “how would I respond to my children if they saw me watching an R-rated movie.” First of all, they all would be edited so I really wouldn’t even have to give much explaination, but if they had to ask me, I would explain to them that they are not of legal age to watch something like this. I would also make sure that I am not watching where they would most often be, such as the living room.
I find that those that have edited movies or those that want to edit movies are not anymore exposed to the garbage that they have to edit out than what they have already seen on TV or something that you have paid for already mentioned earlier in my posting.
Why not pay for the materials to have it removed so you can have a family movie with all the garbage taken out of it. I would pay to have it edited, even if I had to do it myself, to take out the garbage, instead of $30 dollars for 2 or 3 people to go to the movie theater and watch it there with all the garbage.
Simply put if you don’t want the garbage in your home, learn to edit the movie yourself and get rid of the trash so your kids will know that you cared enough about them that you sacrificed by watching the garbage so the kids wouldn’t have to. To me, that is telling my kids that I love them so much that I am not willing to expose them to the garbage that is out there but give them something they can truly enjoy edited with no garbage.

I am so glad that they revealed how to make edited movies. This will certainly help clean up our home DVD library of PG rated movies for our children. Thanks to LDS Resources for the insightful information. We don’t have cable and don’t go out to the movie theaters. I have bought edited versions of movies from Family Edited DVDs in the past and have to point out that their quality was much better than Clean Flicks. I will definitely buy their book!
