The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be represented at inaugural events for President-elect Barack Obama by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (second counselor in the First Presidency), and Elder M. Russell Ballard (member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles). These two apostles were asked by President Thomas S. Monson to represent the Church at the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama.
“It is always an honor for the Church to be represented at the inauguration of a new president,” said President Monson. “We send our best wishes to President-elect Obama and pray for the blessings of a loving Father in Heaven to be upon him and his administration.”

Kinda makes me wonder about President Monson’s political stance. His talk at the last General Conference was all about “CHANGE,” as though he was hinting that he is a Democrat and supporter of Barack Obama. Now his is sending two apostles to be at the inauguration? Is it simply because now Harry Reid is the Senate Majority Leader? Have Church apostles been in attendance at previous presidential inaugurations?
Both Ezra Taft Benson and Thomas S. Monson were part of the presidential inauguration for George H.W. Bush in 1989.
They are also witnesses and if obama institutes socialism then he will be accountable and these 2 men will stand as judges as a witness that he did take an oath and put his hand on the bible.
