I recently came across an article, Civil War may begin in Chicago:
Second Great Rebellion or Chicago Quote – A. Milton Musser papers, LDS Church Archives.
This was a letter from Nephi Packard to A. Milton Musser on July 24, 1896:
“… My brother, Noah Packard, says that he heard the Prophet Joseph say that the next great (U.S. civil) war after the war of the rebellion (the Civil War of the 1860′s between the North and the South) would commence in a little town now called Chicago but at that time it would have grown to be a very large city. And another brother told me that the Prophet said that the cause of the next great trouble of the United States would be the depreciation of the currency of the United States. I believe I have given you all the facts in as short and concise manner as possible.”
Another quote regarding the Civil War itself comes from an interview by Dr. Poulson with David Whitmer, printed in the Deseret News on Friday, August 16, 1878:
Question: When will the temple be built in Independence?
Answer: Right after the great tribulation is over
Question: What do you mean by that?
Answer: A civil war more bloody and cruel than the rebellion. It will be the smashing up of this nation, about which time the second great work has to be done, a work like Joseph did, and the translation of the sealed plates and peace all over.
This is very interesting as it relates to situations now happening. However, I have no means to verify the authenticity of the information. But with all the corruption coming out of Chicago (Senator Barack Obama, Governor Rod Blagojevich, Tony Rezko, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, et cetera), this information is plausible although through my research I found no written evidence to support it. Whether it is true or not, I rather err on the side of being overly prepared, than not prepared at all.
The question is, are you prepared for such a situation? Are you financially prepared? Do you have your year supply of food storage? Are you temporally prepared? Are you spiritually prepared?

While the Poulson Whitmer exchange is verifiable I can see no proof that the alleged Packard-Musser correspondence is real. In fact I can’t find any reference to it that precedes August of last year. In the whole of the internet I can’t find any earlier reference to the “A. Milton Musser Papers” There is a reference in a wikipedia article to teh Musser Family Papers, but I can find no reason thus far to take as credible the Musser letter. In fact it seems to scream that it’s a scam reference.
Just because you can not find a reference does not mean that it does not exist. An atheist will tell you that they can not find evidence or proof of God, but that does not mean that God does not exist. Besides, the reference was referring to LDS Church Archives. I’m sure you along with everyone else has open access to those restricted access archives, right?
